Abstract
Avery's work explores the intersections of transformation, decay, and resilience, using art to question humanity's relationship with the natural world and its systems. Each piece in the exhibition embodies cycles of change, where fragile materials are reimagined and reshaped to transcend their origins.
The Cicada Crown transforms delicate exoskeletons into enduring, metallic artifacts through a sputtering process, symbolizing metamorphosis and the tension between fragility and permanence. The Hanging Oil Lamp, with its glossy black ceramic form inspired by organic structures, merges ritual and nature, inviting reflection on the interplay between light, spirituality, and transformation. A large panoramic drawing captures a collapsing industrial landscape, using dreamlike imagery to evoke the dissonance between progress and entropy.
Together, these works remind us that in the delicate interplay of decay and renewal, the ephemeral finds its way to eternity.
