Abstract
This master's thesis explores the intricacies of constructing a First Person Shooter (FPS) game
framework within the Unity game development environment. The study delves into the versatility and
accessibility of Unity, assessing its suitability for creating a foundational structure for 3D FPS games.
Emphasizing the importance of a robust physics engine, the research investigates Unity's capabilities in
simulating realistic interactions, including collision detection, object dynamics, and the implementation
of constraints and common gameplay patterns.
The thesis also examines the role of community support, resource availability, and the Unity Asset
Store in expediting the development process. Through a comprehensive analysis, and an accompanying
exemplifying artifact project, this research aims to provide valuable insights and practical guidelines
for developers seeking to establish a solid FPS game framework in Unity, contributing to the broader
field of game development methodologies.
