Abstract
Latinos have made up about half of the United States’ population growth since the beginning of the century, leading many to speculate how this will affect our elections. Many have assumed this would benefit Democratic candidates, although this has not always been the case. This paper investigates to what extent has the growth of the Latino population helped Democratic candidates win elections, and why they have been unable to have the effect many expect them to.
