Abstract
This long-form journalism piece will explore the subculture of extreme haunts while closely following a local immersive horror/extreme haunt group, Shock Theater. It will discuss the origins of the art form, its influences, and its relation to modern American society. In addition, it will offer insight into the people who make the haunts happen: the actors and the guests.
