Abstract
In my essay, Nature's Beauty, I describe my inspiration and the evolution of my work, both in concept and in terms of the process I use to create my series of paintings for my thesis show. I embrace a freeform painting style that reflects my emotional connection to nature and my Mexican heritage. I work wet-on-wet, allowing the paint to move organically and allowing me to interpret it in my own way. Rather than striving for realism, I focus on emotion, memory, and experimentation, often drawing from photographs and personal experiences. Since beginning my journey at Purchase, my approach to painting has transformed. I've become more relaxed and playful, welcoming mistakes and distorting shapes to make my work feel more alive. Letting go of strict realism has helped me discover a style that truly represents who I am and has opened the floodgates to exploring meaningful memories and landscapes rooted in culture and personal experience.
