Abstract
This thesis explores the relationship between maximalism and the canvas. I'm interested in how the canvas can go beyond the frame and enter a 3-dimensional space. I paint textures and fabrics using strictly acrylic to create intense juxtaposing feelings and realities. I layer everything on top and through each other to maximize the space. I also include a hand-painted stop-motion animation video to allow viewers to literally step out of the canvas. In both my paintings and animation, the subject of the work deals with domestic spaces and escapism.
