Abstract
Affect theory within film is a vast and fascinating area of discussion. Through specific works of the films of Larisa Shepitko, I investigate how this affect operates on a level that transcends the body through visceral means by way of showcasing the harsh environments of extreme climate, specifically in the case of her first and final feature film. With this project I aim to open up discussion for more ways in which affect theory may be approached in relation to film and how it may further illustrate the many significant and unique ways cinema affects each individual audience member.
