Abstract
This paper tracks the course of political trust in America from the Vietnam War onward in an attempt to understand why the current American socio-political landscape is so divided. Starting out with a discussion of what Political Trust even means and of the dual shocks of Vietnam and Watergate, the paper then moves on to the collected data that tracks this phenomenon and then finishes off with a discussion about the modern arbiters of this broken trust. In tracking this lack of faith, hopefully one can see the course that has taken America to the January 6 2021 Capitol Riots.
