Abstract
An unfortunate truth is that the collections of cultural items museums hold and display often have sources entrenched in colonization and imperialism. An option these institutions have is to return cultural objects and remains to their places and people of origin, in a process known as repatriation. This paper describes several instances of repatriation across the United States and Europe, and the intricacies and issues that come with the process.
