Abstract
If digitally enhanced vocals and prerecorded instruments augment the experience, then the one must question, is live performance truly live if the human aspect is slowly being removed and replaced with preset machines? This essay discusses what liveness is and how technological advancements affect that through theory and examples of performances both past and present.
