Abstract
War has often accelerated medical advancements out of necessity. The urgent need to treat mass casualties and manage complex injuries during conflicts has historically led to significant innovations in medical techniques and technologies. This makes for a dynamic relationship between medicine and war. This project highlights the profound legacy of World War I on modern medicine, particularly in innovations made in the front lines, medical advancements and psychological care. The innovations born out of necessity during the Great War have had enduring effects, shaping emergency medical services and societal approaches to healthcare.
