How do you define good reading? How often do you come across
students who read with hesitations, repetitions, word miscalls, and exhibit
word by word reading and slow decoding of words? Oral fluency is seen
as a necessary feature in defining good reading (Allington, 1983). A lack
of fluency in oral reading, usually described as word by word reading or
unlanguage like reading, is often seen as a characteristic of poor readers .
