Abstract
For my Senior Project, I am creating an online space for Black, Latin, Designers (BLD.) By establishing this space, I hope to offer inspiration and knowledge to younger Black, Latin, Designers and affirm them that there are careers for designers like us and that their work is valuable too. The BLD platform shares the work of Black, Latin, Designers on social media, lists job opportunities, and will feature weekly affirmations. I am focusing on promoting and exploring career opportunities through social media platforms and a special event to highlight Black and Latin people in the graphic design field.
A key aspect of my senior project is to create an inaugural online BLD symposium on Friday, May 12, 2021, from 12:00 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. The session will feature 3 designers. The theme for the upcoming event is Black Latin Designer (BLD) careers with targeting an audience of young graphic designers and visual artists just entering professional practice.
