Abstract
"Wretched Mirrors" follows Mabel, who, after enduring emotional abuse from her mentally ill mother, escapes to New York City and starts a new life. Now 23, everything Mabel has built slowly unravels as she begins to show similar symptoms as her mother. When she meets Angie, Mabel learns to fight these feelings by hanging around in bars and drinks herself away. Her best friend and bandmate, Cherie, notices and confronts Mabel about her problem and gives her an ultimatum to either try to get help or she's out of the band. As Mabel struggles with this decision, her mother reaches out to tell her that she's dying and wants Mabel to return home. Seeking closure, Mabel goes home to confront both her past and her mother.
