Abstract
It would be foolish to believe that the universe, an uncharted expanse of elements and space unknown to mankind, could contain anything other than multitudes of other living beings. For Henri, the pursuit of knowledge in a finite world would prove to reveal more than she bargained for. In "Henri meets Fa-Anya", an excerpt from the novel-in-progress Plant Matter, Henri is introduced to a being as invested in the scientific process as she is. Together, they begin to examine the human experience in order to find the answer to Fa-Anya's question for the universe; should living creatures be given free will?
