Abstract
I. ABSTRACT
Major League Baseball, like other major American sports leagues, works like an organized cartel. Teams are spending money at an all-time high, yet does that directly lead to winning? Through a series of qualitative data research, the correlation of paying players to performance is going to seem almost nonexistent due to the volatility of production in baseball. Similarly, it will dissect why teams are spending so much and it doesn't work out for them. Potential ways to spend better do exist and have led the MLB into a new era of statistics and analytics that is taking over entirely. Because of many regulations and rules set up by the league, each team is able to compete fairly with the rest as a business and on the ballfield.
