Abstract
Since its beginnings as a controversial pop culture entity in the 1980s, Dungeons & Dragons (D&D) has acquired a massive global following. Now owned by multi-million dollar game company Wizards of the Coast, the game's growing popularity is stirring fans to ask for more diverse representation in the game. Even as Wizards of the Coast make moves towards inclusivity, many disabled D&D enthusiasts say they are often left out of the narrative. Areas of focus include a dive into D&D's history dealing with disability in the game and community, an exploration into the creative efforts championed by disabled gamers to improve their experience, and how fans say that Wizards of the Coast and the larger gaming industry can move forward.
