Abstract
Blockbuster Purgatory is an analytical research paper that examines the profound effect that the introduction of videocassette technology had on the American Christian media industry. By examining the videocassette through both textual close analysis and as a physical object, this paper explores the cultural, technological, and economic factors at work that reoriented the direction of the unique and unconventional world of Christian entertainment.
