Abstract
This thesis explores themes of generational trauma, identity exploration, rediscovery, and vulnerability through various ceramic and mixed media sculptures. Through my practice, I learn about the connections between my contemporary art, traditional craft practices (hand-building, beading, etc.), and my identity as a queer Puertorican woman. Using this knowledge, I create works informed by my emotions, personal history, symbolization, and Puerto Rican culture. My work encourages sharing vulnerable stories, reconnecting with heritage, and healing trauma. Through this thesis, I've learned more in-depth about my history, experiences, and the person I continue to work to be.
