Abstract
As artificial intelligence (AI) systems rapidly advance, permeating all aspects of life, they cast an inscrutable shadow over the very essence of our humanity. This paper considers how AI's rapid advancement and expansion obfuscates one of our most quintessential questions: what does it mean to be human? By scrutinizing the definitions we ascribe to AI and exploring the inherent challenges in establishing and maintaining such delineations, we confront the elusive complexities that underlie this technological revolution. Recognizing the inextricable link between AI's evolution and our human identity, this paper advocates for a paradigm shift that places accountability and agency firmly in the hands of humanity. Through a strengthened collective consciousness, we can navigate the intricate landscape of AI and harness its immense potential to enhance our lives, rather than allowing AI to diminish the very essence that defines us.
