Abstract
This paper examines the complex and often contentious topic of gun control in the United States. We take a close look at how different policies, such as assault weapons bans and Stand Your Ground laws, affect gun violence. There is a clear and stark difference between the U.S. and other developed countries in responding to and legislating guns - notably, a slower and more modest response by the United States. Some examples of political hesitance stem from the United States' unique relationship with guns, gun rights, and the NRA's notable strength. By dissecting key components of gun control, including background checks, and gun buyback programs, we can assess how effective these measures are in reducing violence and gun-involved incidents inside and outside the United States.
