Abstract
This research aimed to determine whether there is a difference between students who are a part of cultural clubs on campus at SUNY Purchase College and students who do not attend these cultural clubs. This research was designed to help people understand how the cultural clubs on campus may influence on students' experience at SUNY Purchase College. The Diversity Satisfaction Scale and the Critical Consciousness Scale were used to measure how satisfied students are regarding the institution's approach towards diversity of students, faculty, and staff. The Critical Consciousness Scale was used to determine whether students who were part of cultural clubs had a higher sensitivity to social inequalities. The results of the study suggested that the students who were a part of the cultural clubs had lower satisfaction regarding diversity. There are no differences in critical consciousness scale between students in cultural clubs and those who were not involved in clubs; therefore, the hypothesis was not sustained. We hope the results from this research help future studies that examined the experiences of students in higher education. Keywords: critical consciousness, cultural clubs, diversity, satisfaction in college
