Abstract
This thesis dives into the art and science of optimizing personal computer components to boost performance across different use cases. As software demands continue to grow, the importance of pushing PCs to their full potential has never been more evident. The goal of this research is to bridge the gap between theoretical optimization strategies and their real-world applications, focusing on the CPU, GPU, RAM, and storage. This thesis explores current studies and experiments with various optimization techniques, such as overclocking and hardware tweaks, to identify strategies for maximizing PC performance across different use cases. This work shows that small adjustments can lead to significant performance gains, especially for gaming, content creation, and professional productivity. However, these improvements come with risks, specifically when it comes to system stability. To make this research more accessible, the principles outlined are applied through my senior project website, "How to Build a PC: From Start to End," which offers step-by-step guides on building and optimizing PCs for users at every skill level. Finally, this thesis provides both a deeper understanding of PC optimization and practical tools for those looking to enhance their systems, emphasizing a careful balance between performance and reliability.
