Abstract
Women have considerably contributed to the sport of basketball as long as the game has been around. Many times, when people discuss the fundamentals of basketball, most individuals tend to assume the perspective of men; seldom do basketball discussions jump onto the view of women. Within the history of basketball, there has always been the aspect of women seconding men. In the early ages of human civilizations before the innovation of basketball introduction, women were still perceived as inferior to men. A concept that has gotten drawn in many of the contribution women have taken part in, inclusive of the sport of basketball. College basketball has proven to be one of the sensitive activities from which gender inequality has gotten depicted extensively. Based on proven research results that were based on division one, two, and three college basketball games, men were treated more prominently than women. Despite the standing fact that the sport of basket had incorporated the interests of women from its early times of introduction into the sports culture, women have received mixed reactions in many of their progressive endeavors.   The education amendment act of 1972 has had a considerable impact on the ideology of gender inequality in sport, with an exceptional focus on basketball. However, despite Title IX's significance in the college sports operations, professional teams and college administrative organization still struggle to develop women's basketball to the equivalence of men's basketball. It, therefore, makes sense that the sport of basketball on the women's side has received less support and recognition compared to men's basketball. However much the society today has developed stereotypical perceptions of genders in the sport of basketball, there exist many practical actions and strategic methods that could get implemented in the promotion of women's basketball to the equivalence of men. With the rates of inadequate and unbalanced funding reduced within the college's curriculum as pertains to sports associations, women have an equal chance as men in advancement of the sport. The research paper extensively outlines the causes of gender segregation in sports through conducted conversation s and proposes practical solutions in the promotion of women in sports.   Keywords: basketball, women sports, inequality in sports, Title IX
