Abstract
Shades of Green was written and created in 2024 by Victoria Wall to serve as a Senior Capstone Project and evolve far beyond her time at SUNY Purchase College. Illustrations and animations were generated in Adobe Illustrator and After Effects. All code was written using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Shades of Green explores the question: "How do I best convey that Climate Change is not the fault of the individuals, consumers, designers, mass corporations, or even the government's lack of proper regulations, but rather the fault of all of those entities combined fighting against each other, instead of working towards a common goal?" As time goes on, humanity loses the luxury of allowing the determined few to pave the way. As long as capitalism remains to be a catalyst in the earth's exponential degradation, there needs to be rapid wide-scale change to the very structures of current society to truly make an impact. While this project currently showcases one narrative, it is meant to get viewers thinking about the many different obstacles that arise when trying to be sustainable. Shades of Green nods at the idea that there isn't one sole or simple solution to combat climate change properly, it can only fairly be battled by an all-around mass collective effort.
