Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate the influence of the motivational probe technique on the posttest scores of learning disabled and educable mentally retarded students using the Word Opposites and Conceptual Matching subtests taken from the DTLA-2. The effect of individual testing was evaluated by a pre-probe and post-probe scoring of results. A dependent t test was used to test the hypotheses presented in this study. The findings of this study indicated that the motivational probe technique enabled both EMR and LD groups to score significantly higher on each of the four tests.
