Abstract
The course educates students on the history and origins of the cannabis plant and guides them through an exploration of the various cultural, social, legal and political factors that have influenced its shifting role and perception in American society - from Colonial America to the present day. The course explores ways in which misinformation and government propaganda continue to influence public opinion. Furthermore, students will walk away with an in-depth understanding of NY's legal cannabis industry and the culture of cannabis consumption.
