Abstract
In my project, I am attempting to explore the potential within the technology that is disused, dismissed, and considered obsolete. I want to develop creations that are intrinsically tied to their materiality and technological essence. Much of the technological essence often becomes obscured through the guise of user convenience and we are unable to see the true materiality of what comes through the technology. Exploring and using obscure electronics, while they may be imperfect, can create a deeper connection because they lack the barriers of conformity, control and standardization of more current devices. Through this project, I am trying to push the materiality of the technology, and encourage the use and reuse of electronics that are often disregarded, as they foster a closer connection to the technology, something that we have lost over time.
