Abstract
Set in the birthplace of Hip-Hop, 64 Bars follows three ambitious, college-aged women from New York City – Amaya, Mikayla, and Brianna – who once shared a dream but now walk separate paths in pursuit of musical stardom. Back in high school, they were inseparable: Amaya, the witty lyricist with a poet's soul; Mikayla, the quiet genius behind the beats; and Brianna, the charismatic performer who brought their sound to life and owned the stage. Together, they were a force. But cracks began to form when Mikayla and Brianna had a falling out, severing the group's creative chemistry. Amaya, caught in the middle, tried to maintain ties with both – writing lyrics for Brianna while still supporting Mikayla behind the scenes. Now in college and chasing solo careers, the tension boils over. Amaya decides to step into the spotlight and make music for herself, tired of being the unseen writer behind someone else's voice. Her decision sends shockwaves through their already fractured dynamic, especially with Brianna, who views Amaya's move as a betrayal and ends their friendship. 64 Bars tracks each woman's rise – and stumbles – as they navigate the cutthroat world of NYC's music industry. Mikayla, still reeling from her split with Brianna, finds a new sound and starts building her name as a solo producer. Brianna, driven and determined to stay on top, fights to maintain her spotlight without Amaya's lyrics. And Amaya, for the first time, learns to not only use her voice, but embrace it.
