Abstract
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to understand enough English to follow extended discourse on abstract and complex topics beyond their own field, though they may need to confirm occasional details, especially if the variety is unfamiliar. Students will be able to easily follow complex interactions between third parties in group discussion and debate, even on abstract, complex, unfamiliar topics. Students will be able to follow most lectures, discussions and debates with relative ease. Students will be able to understand complex technical information, such as operating instructions or specifications for familiar products and services. Students will be able to give clear, detailed descriptions and presentations on complex subjects, integrating sub-themes, developing particular points and rounding off with an appropriate conclusion. Students will be able to give elaborate descriptions and narratives, integrating sub-themes, developing particular points and rounding them off with an appropriate conclusion. Students will be able to give instructions on carrying out a series of complex professional or academic procedures.
