Abstract
Searching the Head is a novella aimed to explore anthropological themes of ideologies and religion, ritual, affect, and cultural perspectives. The novella follows Vivian Smith, a social worker who is returning to work after losing her young daughter to a house fire and is assigned the case of 10 year old Andera Thomas who has been reported missing by her school. Vivian struggles with cultural ignorance and her own desire to have been able to save her daughter as she further investigates Andera's case and the intricacies of the Thomas family's cultural background.
