Abstract
The modern music industry is increasingly dominated by AI-driven algorithms and corporate conglomerates that prioritize profit over artistic innovation. While digital platforms once promised to democratize music, they have instead reinforced monopolistic structures that benefit a select few, making it harder for emerging independent artists to break through. Streaming services, powered by undisclosed algorithms, disproportionately favor established acts with major label backing, leaving the majority of independent artists struggling to make a sustainable living. To counteract this gap, there needs to be fundamental shifts in business models and management approaches that foster transparency, equitable economic models, and technological solutions that empower independent artists rather than marginalize them. By prioritizing authenticity, diversity, and fair compensation, industry leaders can create a more inclusive and sustainable ecosystem supporting the next generation of recording artists and their fans.
