Abstract
Over the years children in sports have grown tremendously. This paper shares the importance of parents being informed on their child's capabilities when it comes to being involved in competitive sports. By examining all the positive and negative factors of children involved in sports this paper discovers that one main aspect is a healthy environment. A healthy environment sets children up for success instead of failure. All the data that has been collected in this paper about children in sports discovers that age is an important aspect. Age is able to show a child's capability, understanding what their skill level is and if they are able to perform average or advanced skills. This falls into the main point of the paper, which is the lack of knowledge parents have when children are starting sports. The argument of this paper is to protect young children who are involved in sports. As society gives children strong foundation sports, we are able to keep them involved in sports to ensure they will learn the meaning of living a lifelong healthy lifestyle. Without sports, children may lose many important values, which are discussed in detail throughout the paper.
