Abstract
Strange Liberty is about identity, trauma, and healing through artistic expression. Using personal stories like growing up Black in predominantly white spaces, navigating grief, PTSD, and sexual trauma, creating these vibrant, illustrative sculptures allowed me to reclaim painful stories. My Black joy is used as a radical act of resistance against the systemic oppression embedded in African American culture. Through works like Welcome to the Fairyhood, Cake 4 Ur Ice Cream, and PTSD & Me, I build spaces that deconstruct racial or personal trauma while celebrating resilience, community, and Black liberation.
