Abstract
This course aims to teach students to speak clearly, effectively, substantively and with purpose for a given audience. Emphasis will be placed on developing self-confidence & increasing competence when conveying meaning to a receiver(s) in a variety of settings. Students will compose and deliver a variety of speeches such as to inform and to persuade. Students will learn effective preparation skills including choosing and researching a topic, organizing material, and using the voice and body to communicate effectively. We will study many types of communication, including intrapersonal, interpersonal, listening, small group and public communication.
