Abstract
A college degree has consistently become more common in the workforce. Due to this, people have mistakenly assumed that a college degree has become less valuable as time has gone on. In reality, a college degree has become much more valuable and comes with several different benefits. Some of these benefits include higher wages, better access to health insurance, and stability in uncertain times.
People of color, in particular, face a difficult time trying to receive a college education. However, the path for them to get there tends to be much more difficult than it is for White students. The path is difficult due to specific systemic issues that label Black students as troubled or problems to be fixed. These problems lead to issues with being able to afford to fund their education. Despite the harder time people of color tend to face trying to receive one, they tend to benefit more from having completed a college degree.
