Abstract
The mental state of both Mary Todd and Abraham Lincoln had a profound impact on their relationship and on each other's lives as well as their own. This paper will demonstrate that impact in several dimensions of their lives, including the impact of their respective challenges on their marital relationship, an analysis of how their mental health issues influenced their actions in relation to others (i.e. Lincoln spending more time working in order to delay going home), and a review of how their own mental health problems affected their decisions.
