Abstract
The best way to describe my work is as nature-based. I feel the energy from different natural forms, like trees and rocks, and I recreate that through other materials and with my own touch. For my senior project I want to create an environment using recreated nature, that isn't seen together in real life, to show the strength and fragility of both nature and humanity. I plan on creating multiple sections of the room into different landscapes that flow together. Using common themes from my work, such as my tree and stalactites/stalagmites, I plan on advancing them into a large-scale installation. I use both traditional hand building, such as coils, and wheel throwing in my sculptures. I also have a love for Raku firings, an ancient Japanese ceramic firing. Creating a sculpture that helps me understand the world and the world to understand me.
