Abstract
This curriculum project was designed to integrate Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) in the study of Quadratics in Algebra I. RME is an instructional tool that can be implemented in any classroom, and does not require any formal training. RME’s 6 characteristics are presented throughout the five lessons included in this curriculum project. The sequential lessons are centered around Quadratics. Keys for each lesson’s activities can be found in the Appendix. The topics covered in this curriculum include; key features/characteristics of quadratics, shifting quadratics, completing the square/vertex form, and real world problems. The lessons are aligned to New York State Common Core Standards for Algebra I.
