Abstract
Using American Sociologist Charles H. Cooley's theory on self perception, along with the art/craft of crochet, I explored my perception of myself as well as that of my relationships with friends, family and sometimes strangers, in three self portraits, along with a book, documenting my process from start to finish. Cooley's theory is broken down into three steps. First, we imagine how we must appear to others in a social situation. Second, we imagine and then react to what we feel their judgment of that appearance must be. And lastly, we develop our sense of self and respond through these perceived judgments of others.
