Abstract
Television is a constant in all of our lives. It’s what connects us to the media world and is one of the most valuable forms of communication for all people. Television is also a very powerful and influential form of mass media and we as humans come to believe that a lot of what we see on television programs is how we perceive the real world outside of those screens. With help through the lens of George Gerbner's Cultivation theory and other scholarly articles that I researched through Purchase College’s library database. The purpose of this paper was to determine how television is affecting its viewers to believe that the world is a dangerous place. In particular why certain types of genres impact viewers through heavy viewing.
