Black Soldiers in the Civil War: Enduring Racism, Inequality, and Abuse in their Units

This paper is about how, in their encampments, Black soldiers were treated unfairly by white soldiers and white officers, through letters and other documentations describing the pay disparity, racism, and physical abuse that they endured while serving in the Union army.
