Abstract
In this thesis, Bradlee Hertrick explores the contrasting influences of conservative Christianity and underground hardcore punk subcultures on his multimedia art practice. What does it mean to long for something true, transcendent, and permanent, and be cynically suspicious that no such thing exists? Memorials, billboards, tattoos, and polaroid photographs become material explorations of the desire to make a declaration in this current technological moment.
