Abstract
These days, many public elementary schools in the United States tend to cut a budget for visual arts education because of the economic downturn. It means many elementary students are losing opportunities to take visual art classes. I believe that we should keep visual arts education in the elementary curriculum. To prove my settlement, I decided to answer my research question: What is the significance of visual arts education for elementary students? By finding my proof, I used a systematic library search such as the Purchase College Library databases, Google Scholar, and internet research. Actually, through research, I found some benefits for students to learn it. For example, Media arts can improve literacy skills. Project-based learning helps students learn about their own culture and supports other subjects. Also, students can develop their leadership with visual arts education. Those results could encourage elementary schools to maintain visual arts education.
