Abstract
This thesis investigates the relationship between d/Deaf identity, American Sign Language (ASL), and art through the groundbreaking work of Christine Sun Kim. As a deaf artist who utilizes ASL and visual art forms, Kim offers a unique perspective on the complexities of d/Deaf culture, communication, and identity. This study explores how Kim's art serves as a platform to challenge societal norms, redefine the concept of sound, and advocate for the recognition and appreciation of ASL as a legitimate language and cultural expression.
